Self taught Developer

Hello. I am trying to switch my career. I’m almost done with my front end engineer online course. I have JLPT N3 and I have a residence visa. Is it possible for me to get a job as a front end engineer?

yeah, if you skills up, then you can look after a position as a developer.

Sachyko,

Speaking purely from a dev point of view, you might think I will sound harsh, but if you’re in competition against people going to Uni for 3, 4 or 5 years in Computer Science, with internships on top, the latter will always win in the eyes of many recruiters.

I would recommend to build a portfolio of personal projects showcasing your knowledge, that’s usually the best way to prove your skills if I’m honest.

Another thing that will could make you stand out, is having knowledge on one of the 3 Musketeers of online services such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
As lot of people can do Frontend, but not many understand the whole pipeline, especially the challenges with having a backend and infrastructure.
