Hello everyone, I’m a software developer with 8 years of experience, primarily in Java backend development. I don’t speak Japanese, and I’m looking for new job opportunities in Tokyo (English-only positions). I have a couple of questions I hope you can help me with:
- How common are English-only backend Java positions in Japan? I’ve noticed that on job boards like TokyoDev, there seem to be far fewer Java positions compared to languages like Python.
- Is it feasible for an experienced Java developer to apply for positions using other programming languages (such as Python)? How open are companies to hiring developers who are willing to transition to a new programing language?
Thank you!
