Java Dev Seeking English Jobs in Tokyo: Advice Needed

Hello everyone, I’m a software developer with 8 years of experience, primarily in Java backend development. I don’t speak Japanese, and I’m looking for new job opportunities in Tokyo (English-only positions). I have a couple of questions I hope you can help me with:

  1. How common are English-only backend Java positions in Japan? I’ve noticed that on job boards like TokyoDev, there seem to be far fewer Java positions compared to languages like Python.
  2. Is it feasible for an experienced Java developer to apply for positions using other programming languages (such as Python)? How open are companies to hiring developers who are willing to transition to a new programing language?

Thank you!
