Feasibility on getting globally remote position while staying in Japan?

As I am little bit tired on looking for new position in Tokyo recently, I’m also considering unconventional options as a software developer based in Tokyo.

I already have PR therefore I don’t need any visa in Japan.

Are there opportunities on being hired by someone outside of Japan, receiving foreign currency (ideally in $US) as compensation, while working remotely anywhere in Japan?

If it is feasible with decent amount of opportunities, what could be the negative factors? e.g. timezone difference, declaring & paying taxes?

It is theoretically possible, if you can find a company willing to hire you. Using an Employer of Record may make it a more attractive option - that option also includes an example of an engineer living in Japan who used one to work for an American company.
